God is Faithful

God is Faithful 1

God is faithful.  He is a God who keeps His Word.  He is a covenant keeping God Deuteronomy 7:9 says, " Know therefore that the LORD your GOD is GOD; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments," (NIV).  To be faithful means to be loyal, constant, true, devoted.  God does not change.  He does not change in His character, His love, kindness, fairness or in fulfilling His promises to us.  God is immutable.

In Genesis 20, Abraham introduced Sarah, his wife of many years as his sister.  He had moved to the region of the Negev, however the people who resided there were not God fearing.  Instead of Abraham asking God to protect him and his wife, he took matters into his own hands and decided to pretend that he and Sarah were not married.  This led to…

Am I My Brother's Keeper?

Am I My Brother's Keeper? 0

In Genesis 4, Cain asked God, "Am I my brother's keeper?" Cain had murdered his bother Abel and God had asked him where his brother was.  Now the reason Cain asked God the question was not that he didn't know the answer to where his brother was.  The reason he questioned God was because he knew that he was responsible for his brother's death.  Cain questioned God because he was trying to separate himself from not only his brother's life, but also his brother's death.  Cain was Abel's keeper and he had failed to keep his bother.  He failed to love, to guard and to protect his bother.  God asks us today, "Are you and I our brother's keeper?

Fall Upon the Stone and Be Broken Rather the Stone Fall Upon You and Be Crushed

Fall Upon the Stone and Be Broken Rather the Stone Fall Upon You and Be Crushed 0

In Luke 16, Jesus tells the story of the rich man and Lazarus.  There was a rich man who lived in luxury every day, while at his gate a beggar laid daily wishing he could just eat the leftovers from the rich man's table.  The time came when they both died.  The poor man's soul was carried by the angels to Abraham's boson or paradise and the rich man's soul was taken to hell or hades.  Luke 16:19-31. The rich man wasn't taken to hell because he was rich but because he didn't follow the commandments to love his neighbor as himself.  He didn't change his old ways of thinking and seek God and His righteousness.  He didn't obey the Scriptures.  He didn't fall upon the Stone and be broken of his pride and his selfishness.  Instead, the Stone fell upon him, and he was crushed.  He found himself in hell separated from God.
